FUSION'S New Beginnings
Hello Friends of FUSION!
Can you believe it is almost Spring? The season represents new beginnings as the sleepy crocus begin to rear their heads and the sun begins to make guest appearances. I want to share with you this month some of FUSION's new beginnings.
We kicked off our first quarter of 2020 with the development of a new and solid Strategic Plan that is focused on the successful launching of our FUSION Family Center; working on development of a comprehensive Fund Development Plan; and beginning the process of drafting a longer-term Sustainability Plan for the organization. We are grateful for our talented and passionate Volunteer Board Members who continue to guide the organization through our exciting recent changes and are wonderful stewards of the FUSION mission.
In February we completed our FUSION Family Center demolition and received approval of our Master Application from the City of Federal Way! Renovations are well on their way and we anticipate the Grand Opening of the center in mid-July. Consider coming to one of our community information sessions at the FUSION Décor Boutique to ask questions and learn more about this critical and impactful program. Join us at 6 p.m. on one of the following dates between now and June: March 26, April 23, May 28, June 25.
Our FUSION Transitional Housing program, which is currently full with 18 families, continues to provide new beginnings for our fragile and vulnerable families who are able to find stability, safety and much needed guidance in setting and reaching their goals to secure permanent housing and become self-sufficient. We are blessed to have a full-time talented Case Manager on our staff, and our Housing Volunteers provide many hours of service to ensure our family units are safe, clean and ready for our incoming families during a time when they need us the most.
We will keep you in the loop as we continue navigating the exciting and changing waters that are FUSION. And we wish you wonderful new beginnings this Spring as well.
This Valentine's Day
Hello Friends of FUSION,
This Valentine's Day it is
great to take a moment to reflect on the things that really make FUSION a unique and remarkable organization!
Here are some of the reasons
why I love FUSION, not necessarily in order:
— The talented, loving, caring, and compassionate Volunteers
and staff who serve FUSION selflessly day in and day out. Our volunteers, on our Board of Directors, Housing Team, Operations Team, Marketing and Communications Team, and of course the many people who staff our FUSION Décor Boutique.
— The humble, devoted and selfless founders who for 27 years
have cultivated the vision of what FUSION could be and worked diligently to make it happen on behalf of suffering families in our community.
— Our wonderful community of support including our corporate
sponsors, generous businesses, and social service agencies that provide a fusion of support. Along with the resources on behalf of the hundreds of families we have been able to serve over the years.
— Our District, City and County leaders who support and advocate
tirelessly for FUSION and our cause to help families experiencing homelessness become self-sufficient.
— Our local community members and generous businesses who
donate beautiful upscale retail items to our FUSION Décor Boutique.
— The FUSION work culture of fun, humor and comradery that
make FUSION such a great place to work and Volunteer.
— Our wonderful and resilient FUSION families who entrust
us to help them during a very vulnerable time in their lives as we walk along side them to help them find stability and self-sufficiency.
— FUSION has certainly stolen my heart and we are so excited
about expanding our critical impact in the community. As we move into our new phase of evolution via our upcoming FUSION Family Center, a 29 unit, 90-day emergency shelter paired with supportive services for families experiencing homelessness in the community.
— Our FUSION Family Center is slated to open July 15, 2020,
and will serve more than 116 families annually. For more information about the FUSION Family Center, please mark your calendar for February 20th from 6-7 pm at our FUSION Décor Boutique where we will discuss the project and answer community questions.
FUSION Family Center, A New Chapter For FUSION
We welcome 2020, as FUSION has much to celebrate in this new year! Our organization continues to gain momentum after purchasing the Econo Lodge in Federal Way that will serve the community as a new family emergency shelter.
The FUSION Family Center (FFC), a 29-unit emergency shelter paired with supportive services, will be formally established and we anticipate welcoming our first families in mid-July 2020.
Demolition and renovation will begin this month, with help from the many hearts and hands of our FUSION volunteers. Our goal by January 2021 is to shelter 29 families in Federal Way who are experiencing homelessness.
At the FFC, families will have a safe place to call home while gaining the stability they need to secure employment and permanent housing to become self-sufficient.
We are counting on our wonderful volunteers, our community, and our partner agencies to help us further create a fusion of support for our program. Thank you for your support of FUSION and we look forward to a year of new growth!
